Last Days Mockery

...knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation.”
2 Peter 3:3-4

In the world today, there is a negative attitude concerning the promise about the coming of Jesus Christ. There is unbelief and mockery. The Apostle Peter warned that in the Last Days there would be mockers. He knew the inerrancy of the Scriptures and declared: ...no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit (2 Peter 1:20-21).

George Sweeting helps solidify the undisputable proof of Scripture without inerrancy when he stated:

More than a fourth of the Bible is predictive prophecy. Approximately one-third of it has yet to be fulfilled. Both the Old and New Testaments are full of promises about the return of Jesus Christ ... Of the 260 chapters in the New Testament, there are more than 300 references to the Lord’s return – one out of every thirty verses ... For every prophecy on the first coming of Christ, there are eight on Christ’s second coming.

Those who mockingly say, “Where is the promise of His coming?” believe everything has remained the same in this world. They are living in a delusion. Has everything remained the same? Things change every day and every year. Go look in your photo albums, and you will see that things have changed! As you begin to grow older, you will notice grey hairs and wrinkles! This world is not getting better and better; everything is caving in right before our very eyes!

The Second Coming of Jesus Christ is a cardinal doctrine of the Christian faith ... In fact, in some ways the Second Coming of Jesus Christ is the most important of events because it’s the end of the story, because the Second Coming consummates everything, everything.
