Merciful Deliverances

“But after they had rest, they again did evil before You.Therefore You left them in the hand of their enemies, so that they had dominion over them;
yet when they returned and cried out to You, You heard from heaven; and many times You delivered them according to Your mercies….” - >Nehemiah 9:28

The people’s prayer recited the sinful cycle of Israel’s behavior. You would think they would have learned from their mistakes, but they continued to sin.  However, when Israel was chastened by the Lord, as He allowed their enemies to rule over them, the people returned to God. At last they remembered their God’s greatness and cried out to Him. The Lord heard from heaven, and in His mercy, He delivered them.

I have often noticed that people will come to church during a great difficulty or tragedy. God, it seems, has finally gotten their full attention. But after the Lord answers their cries for help, they frequently fall back into their old sinful ways. You must come to God just as you are and open your heart to Him. Then you can get rid of the garbage––the sins in your life.

Do you want to get close to the heart of God? Then wait in the presence of the Lord, and He will move in your life. The only way God can move unhindered in your life, and show you His mercy, is for you to continually  come before Him and ask forgiveness of your sins (1 John 1:9). You need to abide in Christ (John 15).

Once a month on a Sunday night, we encourage the people to stand up before the Lord to worship Him. We have seen great results. Some people are healed, while others have drawn closer to God. As His people wait on the Lord, they receive from Him. They get to know who the Lord is––that is important. As people finally come to a realization that without God they can do nothing, many have surrendered their lives to Him.

Show us Your mercy, Lord, and grant us Your salvation.
