Satan's Influence in the World and His Defeat Pt 1

February 9, 2010
Before the binding of Satan, his influence had dominion over the nations through deception. The only exception was the nation of Israel. Israel was so unique because God made them His chosen people until the fulfillment of Christ’s first coming. But God now has a new nation that he is building and that is the nation of born again believers through His Son Jesus Christ. Satan is a defeated foe.

In reality the only power Satan has is the one people delegate to him. The world is divided into two types of people, those who obey God and those who disobey Him.The followers of Christ are to continuously exercise authority over Satan’s lies and influence in this world. They can do it with confidence because Satan has been bound by Christ.

Jesus acknowledged that Satan had influence in the world as a prince or a ruler but only because people accept and submit to his lies and by doing so they become servants of the kingdom of darkness or the kingdom of lies. However, Jesus also presents that Satan's dominion of this world had come to an end in principle. A principle we must all fully comprehend if we are going to defeat evil in our lives and our world.

Even though most of the disciples were able to come against the power of Satan in Jesus' name they later on decided not to continue with Christ (John 6:66) because they did not want to fully commit their lives to the reality of Christ' victory over the devil and his demons and that attitude remains a fact in many proclaimed followers of Christ up until today. The defeat of evil in us and around us should be a life long journey for every believer in Christ.

The unmasking of Satan’s lies by Jesus against God and humanity had to continue with those who became disciples of Christ. His first twelve disciples received a commission to do the same thing that Jesus was doing to the kingdom of Satan. Jesus' reaction to the great victories obtained by the disciples was one of great joy because Satan’s defeat was evident through anyone who believed and obeys God’s commission. This occurrence should be evident today in the life of every believer.

At the start of his public ministry Jesus Christ declared that the Kingdom of God had arrived, that declaration came with evidences of great benefits to humanity as a proof of restoration. Jesus came to defeat the works of the Devil and did so unmistakably. The unmasking of Satan's lies by Jesus against God and humanity had to continue with those who became disciples of Christ and so it must continue to this day, otherwise, we make God out to be a liar.

From the very beginning of the human rebellion against God, when Adam and Eve accepted the lies of Satan, God declared the struggle was between Satan and Christ, “I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel." (Gen. 3:15). Jesus confronted Satan face-to-face and that was the beginning of Christ' power over the lies of the enemy including the fallen angels who saw how their leader was debilitated and defeated (Matt. 4.1-11; Luke 4:1-13).

From the very beginning Satan's deception won a victory over Adam and Eve. However, God declared the redemptive work of Jesus Christ as the promised Redeemer, "I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring; he shall bruise your head and you shall bruise his heel." (Gen. 3:15). God's ruling against the kingdom of Satan was very clear. It also revealed a powerful struggle between the kingdom of Christ and the kingdom of Satan ending with an ultimate victory over sin and death.

We are too familiar with how destructive lies can be in lives, marriages, families, friendships, institutions, nations and just about everything that man has been involved in collapses because of lies. Satan, being the father of lies, his goal is to infiltrate with lies the heart and mind of the individual then carry on his deceptive work. He hates God and the human race that is created after God’s own image. He is afraid of that image in the human race and does everything within his power to destroy us. Unfortunately, most people believe he will destroy them; even Christians fall prey to this lie.

No enemy should be underestimated and Satan is the great enemy of God, man and all that is good. Satan is a formidable enemy to be respected but never feared or his influence in the world. Jesus denounces Satan as the father of lies, “…and has nothing to do with the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies” (John 8:44). We must keep in mind that the truth given to us always reveals that Satan is a defeated foe.

The kingdom of God can only make sense if individuals enjoy the benefits of being part of it. When the church does not teach the relevance of God’s rule in every aspect of life which begins with the individual, it creates in the believer a misconception of what the Kingdom of God is all about here on earth which it is supposed to be as it is in heaven.

About The Future of America

We want to help restore America's original foundation in biblical Christian principles which made it the most powerful and prosperous nation in the world in a relatively short time but America has not reached it full potential. Ideas have consequences and they are passed on from generation to generation. To eradicate error, the moral and ethical principles of the Bible must be firmly established in the hearts and minds of each individual. If America is going to survive, its citizens must become re-acquainted with its history, heritage and biblical immovable principles and apply them once again to all areas of life. We hope this program will inspire and challenge you so together we can fulfill our responsibility before God and country to make the difference for our generation many generations to come.
