How Christians Become Cannibals - Tattoos, Immodest Clothing, Vampirism, and Other Pagan Rites

January 17, 2012
Over the 1800s, Christians worked hard to turn cannibals into Christians. Now Christians are moving in the other direction. It’s not hard to understand the elements of pagan culture. Pagans eat blood, get tattoos, mutilate their bodies, take their clothes off, cremate bodies at death, and commit infanticides and abortions. Sadly, Christians have been slowly incorporating these pagan rites into their own cultural practices. Kevin Swanson goes back to some of the basic elements of Christian belief and practice. Why do Christians convocate on the first day of the week? Why have Christians been pro-life from the beginning? Why do Christians refuse to get tattoos or mutilate their bodies? Why do Christians insist on modest clothing? Why do Christians refuse to drink blood? Why do Christians believe in justification by faith alone? Why do we as Christians refuse to separate God’s forgiveness from our love and obedience to His commands?

PETA argues for Personhood for dolphins in Florida and a High Court rules that Sharia law is okay in Oklahoma. Kevin Swanson argues that you can’t rule a nation by contradictory law systems. At some point you need to pick a worldview or a basis of law; otherwise, the nation fragments into several pieces. But what is happening on the macro scale? Kevin Swanson reviews the worldwide influence of Islam and Christianity. While the Muslims are taking over Europe and the apostatizing West, the Christian faith is finding huge receptivity in the 10-40 window! Supreme ironies are on this edition of Generations.

How to destroy marital intimacy. . . Talk about it all the time in explicit, scientific, and pornographic terms. There is a reason that Song of Songs is presented in metaphoric, poetic language. There is a special modesty about the language. But this has virtually disappeared in the modern age. What about the Christian how-to-manuals, or Mark Driscoll's new addition to the mix? Kevin Swanson encourages a healthy, biblical handling of marital intimacy issues.

We tell our young men to lay down their lives for women and children. But there aren't many real life examples where this happens. Here is a real life story of a young man steps into the line of fire and takes six shots, in the place of his mother. Here is the story of a homeschooling family serving in dangerous times, despite opposition and difficulties. Gene Antonio speaks of the courage of his eldest son, and his commitment to discipleship for his children and others on the mission field in the Dominican Republic.

Homeschoolers are making an impact. Tim Tebow may very well be the biggest name homeschool graduate in the world. He’s a Christian and he’s “making an impact” on the gridiron. Called “the only virgin in the NFL,” Tim Tebow looks like he’s leading his team to the Super Bowl. This leads to conversation on what it takes to impact the world. Are we impacting the world, or is the world impacting us? What would you do if you thought the world of flesh and pride was eating your friend alive?

For 5900 years of world history, children learned to work from an early age and participated in the family economy. Sadly, we've lost this basic way of life in just the last 3 generations. But families are beginning to train their children in entrepreneurship, business, and work (as early as 6, 8, or 10 years of age). Here is a sweet story of one daughter and how she learned to work with what she had, and contribute to the household economy. Andie Davidson and daughter Tali join us on this edition of Generations.

When the blood flows from that little child's body, the pain continues in the hearts of two. There are two involved. . . not just one. Whereas post-abortive counseling is typically directed towards women, Alan Van Boven makes the case that many fathers are devastated by the heart-rending tragedy of abortion. Is it time to open the festering wounds and apply the soothing tonic of the Gospel to the hearts of men? This program is for 100 million men in America and beyond who have been involved in the crippling nightmare of abortion since 1960.

Somebody said, a man's integrity is tested by what he does when nobody's watching. Why are the highest rates for internet pornography downloads found in Utah and Pakistan? We all have issues with hypocrisy. It's just that some religions institutionalize it, hard wire it into their systems. Kevin Swanson looks at international surveys on charity, honesty in trade, and pornography downloads, and sure enough. . . faith makes a difference!

Coming out of the Iowa Caucuses, three horses are in the race: Ron Paul, Rick Santorum, and Mitt Romney. Of any candidate, Rick Santorum has used some of the strongest language against homosexuality. Ron Paul has used some of the strongest language possible against the centralization of power and big government. Santorum is not principally against big government. That’s pretty obvious; he likes socialism. So what gives? Whom would a Christian support for president?

Edmonton School District in Alberta is "excited" about a new policy providing "support" and "acceptance" of a whole list of sexual deviations. They are hoping to change the culture, and we do not doubt that is the present trajectory. But how will this affect parents who would rather have their children's social and worldview grounding be spared from an immersion into the pro-homosexual agenda? And don't forget about the child confused on sexual issues—he might be bullied in the public schools. What about him? The answer may surprise you. Kevin Swanson includes Ted Tederoff, president of Alberta Home Education Association, and Michael Wagner, author of a recent book entitled “Christian Citizenship Guide: Christianity and Canadian Political Life,” in this important discussion.
