The Healing Business

Matt. 9:35 Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and curing every disease and every sickness.

There have been some amazing advances in medicine these past decades.  Just amazing.  Things requiring major surgery have become minor day procedures and tablets and medicines to cure the incurable. 

Amazing.  And yet - we still don't know how the mind works or how the memory works or how to cure the common cold or…in fact we still don't know a whole bunch of things.

Because we're so complex.  And yet time after time, Jesus walked through towns and villages two thousand years ago - before all these medical advances - and healed people.

Did He really?  The evidence is pretty overwhelming I'd have to say.  People would bring their sick from miles around - and He'd heal them.  It's one of the reasons He drew such a big crowd. 

Question is - is He still in the healing business today?  Well, the Jesus I know is.  No, I'll grant you - He doesn't heal everybody.  Why?  Dunno. 

But I've seen enough people healed that if I were sick - I'd certainly ask Him to heal me.
