Trust in the Lord!
Now Satan stood up against Israel, and moved David to number Israel. So David said to Joab and to the leaders of the people, “Go, number Israel from Beersheba to Dan, and bring the number of them to me that I may know it.”
1 Chronicles 21:1-2
Another tactic of Satan is to cause people to mistrust God. In 1 Chronicles 21:1, Satan moved David to number the people that were going to go with him into battle. In the Hebrew language, the word moved means “enticed.” Satan enticed David to number the people, but God wanted David to trust Him to win the battle.
Again, Satan moved David to mistrust God, but it was not about the amount of men David had in his army; it was more important that God was with Israel. God wanted David to continuously trust in Him. In counting the people, David disobeyed God and sinned against Him. What about you? Have you placed your trust in the Lord for the battles you now now face in life?
Commit your way to the LORD, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass (Psalm 37:5).
And those who know Your name will put their trust in You; for You, LORD, have not forsaken those who seek You (Psalm 9:10).
Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths (Proverbs 3:5-6).
“Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; ‘For YAH, the LORD, is my strength and song; He also has become my salvation’ ” (Isaiah 12:2).
You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You (Isaiah 26:3).
Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; but we will remember the name of the LORD our God.
~Psalm 20:7~
