The Soldiers’ Conflict

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
Ephesians 6:10

Many people do not believe in Satan. They feel he is a myth––a fabricated story. In the Scriptures, Satan is revealed. There is a real ongoing battle against a real enemy!

The Apostle Paul gave Christians a serious charge for engaging in spiritual warfare. The demand was for courage, for determination, and for ceaseless vigilance. Christians have to cling to an undaunted hope––looking for the Lord. We all have to go through this common spiritual warfare.

Realize, the Christian life is one of continuous conflict. A daily battle is being waged against every believer. They face relentless foes––Satan and his demons. Know one thing: if you are a child of the light, you do not have to be worried about the darkness––spiritual hosts of wickedness. Remember, as Christians, we are “in Christ.” Even though Satan will come against us to oppress us, believers have the authority and power of Christ to defeat the enemy.

Satan is a defeated foe. He has already been defeated by Christ on the Cross. Satan can only work by permission; he has to check in before the Lord (Job 1:6). Satan is given a limit on what he can do to us. Christians belong to God; we are His children. God knows exactly how much each of us can handle. God is on our side. In Romans 8:31, we are told: If God is for us, who can be against us? When we understand God is for us, our problems and conflicts become very small.

There is no winning without warfare; there is no opportunity without opposition; there is no victory without vigilance.
