The Miracle of the Holy Spirit

And there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men, from every nation under heaven. And when this sound occurred, the multitude came together, and were confused, because everyone heard them speak in his own language.
Acts 2:5-6

When 120 disciples in an upper room were baptized with the Holy Spirit, there was complete order, not confusion. God is not the author of confusion. The Holy Spirit was in control all the time. The Bible is our guideline. We have read how the wind and fire came, and on this one occasion, everyone spoke with tongues––a different language.

God used the Day of Pentecost to minister to multitudes of Jews who had come from every nation under heaven. These miraculous events were used to reach them for Christ! They had arrived in Jerusalem for the Feast of Pentecost, and after hearing the sound of a mighty wind, they came together. It confounded them to hear in their different languages the wonderful works of God.

Not everyone who is baptized with the Holy Spirit speaks with tongues. God works differently with each person. Some people may cry or become emotional after experiencing the baptism of the Holy Spirit. There is nothing wrong with becoming emotional, but there is a time and place for that. However, believers cannot make their personal experience doctrine or mix their emotions with faith. This is having a wrong concept.

Another insight from the Day of Pentecost is we see a time and place where God was moving by His Spirit. If there is a time when we need a move of God’s Spirit, it is today! We need another spiritual awakening! Through empowered Christians, God wants to reach the lost––to show them His power. Yet how many Christians have backslidden?

I believe the reason God has kept me all these years is because the power of His Holy Spirit continues to work in my life. Do you need more power to live the Christian life and to overcome sin? Then ask God to baptize you with His Holy Spirit every day!

Daily living by faith on Christ is what makes the difference between a sickly and the healthy Christian, between the defeated and victorious saint.
