The Real Manifestation of the Spirit
And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
Acts 2:4
The real manifestation of the gift of tongues is to be exercised through God’s agape love. If you do not have the love of God in your life, then you are not walking in the Spirit, but in the flesh. Read Galatians 5:16-25, and take a good examination of your life. If you would like to have the upon experience, where God baptizes you with His love through the power of His Holy Spirit, then ask Him!
Some Christians will never have the gift of tongues, but God will baptize them with His love. All the gifts of the Holy Spirit are to be exercised through God’s love. Paul expounds on this truth: Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal (1 Corinthians 13:1). Love is the greatest gift (1 Corinthians 13:13).
If you do not know how to pray, the Holy Spirit will help you. How many times in your own language have you had trouble expressing your heart in prayer to God? Did you know the Spirit of God can help you? You can literally groan, as the Spirit will make intercession for you:
Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God (Romans 8:26-27).
Again, if for some reason you cannot find the words to say to express the deep things you have on your heart, the Spirit Himself makes intercessions for you. As you groan, the Spirit is literally giving the message to God. He knows what you are trying to say to Him.
God’s gifts are many; His best gift is one. It is the gift of Himself.
