Trust the Bible

“I will declare Your name to My brethren; in the midst of the assembly I will sing praise to You.” And again: “I will put My trust in Him.” And again: “Here am I and the children whom God has given Me.”
Hebrews 2:12-13

The writer of Hebrews quoted from Psalm 22:22: I will declare Your name to My brethren; in the midst of the assembly I will praise You. This is a prophetical Psalm, and it will continue to proclaim about the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Once again, we see how the New Testament and the Old Testament are connected. This proves, without a shadow of a doubt, that everything written about Jesus in the Bible is true.

Imagine, David, the sweet psalmist of Israel, wrote this prophetical Psalm 3,000 years ago! He penned the very words Jesus Christ would say while dying on the Cross: “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” (Psalm 22:1; Matthew 27:46).

When we read Psalm 22, there is a vivid description of the Messiah’s suffering. Every single prophecy written in the Old Testament about Christ’s death was fulfilled in the New Testament. His humanity was on full display:

Psalm 22:6-8: But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised by the people. All those who see Me ridicule Me; they shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying, “He trusted in the Lord, let Him rescue Him; let Him deliver Him, since He delights in Him!”

This mockery is exactly what happened as people surrounded Jesus Christ as He hung on the Cross:

Matthew 27:39-41, 43: ...those who passed by blasphemed Him, wagging their heads and saying, “...save Yourself! If You are the Son of God, come down from the cross.” Likewise the chief priests also, mocking with the scribes and elders, said, ... “He trusted in God; let Him deliver Him now if He will have Him; for He said, ‘I am the Son of God.’ ”

Know this: You can trust the Bible, and you can trust God’s love for you.

We can trust the Bible because it points us to the most important events in human history: the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
