Spiritual Blindness
What then? Israel has not obtained what it seeks; but the elect have obtained it, and the rest were blinded. Just as it is written: “God has given them a spirit of stupor, eyes that they should not see and ears that they should not hear, to this very day.”
Romans 11:7-8
In Israel, there are some––a remnant who have by faith received Christ––who are under grace. Others are still bound to the Law. When you come to Jesus Christ by faith, you can relax––resting in Him for your salvation. Paul quoted from Isaiah 29:9-10, 13, and Deuteronomy 29:3-4. These Scriptures reveal Israel has suffered spiritual blindness because of their disobedience.
If we look back at our own personal lives when we were in sin, we will realize we were in spiritual darkness––blind. Once we say yes to God and no to the devil, the Word of God takes full effect in our lives. According to 2 Corinthians 4:3-4, Satan is the one who blinds people to the truth of the Gospel:
But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, whose minds the god of this age [Satan] has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them
It is important to pray for people’s eyes to be spiritually open to the Gospel. We are living in dangerous times, and the tide is changing against the Church. I am shocked that people are so passive. Can they not see the terrible things happening in the world? People are worried about who is going to be the next President. Yet God is in control.
I thank God He has given each one of us the opportunity to vote and make a stand for righteousness. Yet we cannot stop preaching the Gospel to those who are spiritually blind–– lost. Are you forgetting Jesus is coming soon? Let us keep our eyes on the main thing––the Gospel of Jesus Christ. God has His remnant. Thank the Lord that you are a part of the remnant He has saved during these perilous times. May God give you His peace.
Satan has no fear of the light as long as he can keep his victims sightless.
