Silencing the Ignorant
For this is the will of God, that by doing good you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men—as free, yet not using liberty as a cloak for vice, but as bondservants of God. Honor all people. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king.
1 Peter 2:15-17
Many Christians will ask, “What is God’s will for my life?” Well, in the Bible, God’s will is clearly revealed. You just have to read it and obey it! God is the One who established the home, the Church, and the government. In His Word, He also shows how these entities are to be run. The blueprint for the family, among other places in the Bible, is found in Colossians 3:18-21 NLT:
Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting for those who belong to the Lord. Husbands, love your wives and never treat them harshly. Children, always obey your parents, for this pleases the Lord. Fathers, do not aggravate your children, or they will become discouraged.
In the Bible, we find the blueprint for governing the Church. Calvary Chapel follows Exodus 18, where we find the theocracy for governing the Church. Ephesians 4:11-13, gives us the purpose for the Church:
And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ...
In American history, the Constitution of the United States was founded upon Christian principles. It was Benjamin Franklin who brought God into the equation of governing our great, new nation. He brought forth the idea that prayer was necessary to invoke the wisdom of God, on behalf of the nation, before the open assembly.
In this situation of this Assembly groping as it were in the dark to find political truth, and scarce able to distinguish it when presented to us, how has it happened, Sir, that we have not hitherto once thought of humbly applying to the Father of lights to illuminate our understandings?
