Today Is the Day of Salvation

For we have become partakers of Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end, while it is said: “Today, if you will hear His voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.”
Hebrews 3:14-15

Notice the “if” clause in verse 14. Salvation is conditional on your response. Three times in this chapter there is a warning about hardening your heart––making the decision to turn your heart away from God.

These important verses call the hearer to make a decision––a decision that should not be put off until tomorrow, but made today! Another Bible verse reasons with a sinner to make a decision for salvation without delay: “In an acceptable time I have heard you, and in the day of salvation I have helped you.” Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation (2 Corinthians 6:2). Make your decision for Christ today because you never know if the opportunity will be given to you again.

Have you heard the voice of God? He will speak to your heart through the Scriptures, through a pastor preaching a message, or through another Christian sharing the Gospel with you. How will you respond to what you are hearing? Understand, it is the Holy Spirit speaking to your heart.

A rebellious person hardens their heart and rejects the Gospel message. The voice of God calls people to repentance and to humble themselves before their Creator. Maybe you have been backslidden for a long time, and your heart has become hardened. Take heed to the Holy Spirit, prompting you to turn to the Lord. Today, do not rebel; open your heart and open your ears to hear what the Spirit is saying to you, personally.

Another reason people abandon the Lord is because of the deceitfulness of sin (Hebrews 3:13). People embrace the darkness as if God does not see––but He does see. And yet, all they have to do is turn on the switch, and the light will come on. It is that easy. The darkness flees.

Today, will you give your heart to Jesus and follow Him?

I have decided to follow Jesus...
No turning back, no turning back.
