Remain Steadfast to the End

For we have become partakers of Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end, while it is said: “Today, if you will hear His voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.”
Hebrews 3:14-15

What is the meaningful exhortation to believers in these verses? Notice the small word “if.” This means, as believers, we have a responsibility to hold on to our faith in full confidence, steadfast to the end. In other words, our salvation is conditional, in that we have to abide in Jesus Christ every single day: “As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love” (John 15:9).

Again, notice the importance of maintaining our relationship with Jesus Christ; we cannot turn back to the world. Paul expressed the finality of our salvation; it is to remain in Jesus Christ––steadfast to the end. We are living in the Last Days when Jesus may return and take the Church––all true believers––home. If the Rapture of the Church does not happen, then as every believer dies, they will go to heaven to be with Him.

Remember, salvation is the free gift of God. You cannot work for your salvation; it is through God’s grace alone:

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them (Ephesians 2:8-10).

Our good works become an automatic outflow of our love relationship with Jesus Christ. This is why the teaching of abiding in Christ is so important:

“Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me” (John 15:4).

Are you remaining steadfast in your Christian walk? Are you abiding in the love of Christ? Do you have a fruitful life because you are serving the Lord?

Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.
~1 Corinthians 15:58~
