Demons Know Who Belongs to Christ
Then some of the itinerant Jewish exorcists took it upon themselves to call the name of the Lord Jesus over those who had evil spirits, saying, “We exorcise you by the Jesus whom Paul preaches.” Also there were seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, who did so. And the evil spirit answered and said, “Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are you?”
Acts 19:13-15
Jewish exorcists tried to attempt what Paul accomplished when using the name of Jesus to cast out demons. They thought, We can use the name of Jesus as well. However, they were not saved. Tomorrow, we shall read what happened to them when they tried to use the name of Jesus.
Demons know Jesus as the Christ, the Son of God, and they know they have been condemned to hell. When two demon-possessed men encountered Jesus, the demons screamed out, “What business do we have [in common] with each other, Son of God? Have You come to torment us before the appointed time [of judgment]?” (Matthew 8:29 AMP). Jesus cast out these demons who requested to enter the bodies of swine (Matthew 8:30-32). When praying for a demon-possessed person, never have anyone in the room who is a non-believer, because when the demon comes out, they will look for a new body––human or animal––to possess!
Demons also know true Christians by name! Underline that in your Bible as it is biblical theology. Demons know who you are and who you belong to––Jesus. There are people who come into the chapel for prayer, saying, “I am being oppressed by demons.” I tell them, “Just turn on the light and you do not have to worry about it.” That is the best way to get rid of the darkness––turn on the light––use the Scriptures.
As a child of the light, in the name of Jesus you have authority against demonic oppression. You can rebuke demons in Jesus’ name! You do not have to scream at demons––they are not deaf. Using your normal voice, just speak the name of Jesus, and the demons have to flee.
I'm not afraid of the devil. The devil can’t handle the One to whom I'm joined; he can't handle the One to whom I'm united; he can't handle the One whose nature dwells in my nature.
