Christ Is Lord
“For David did not ascend into the heavens, but he says himself: ‘The LORD said to my Lord, “Sit at My right hand, till I make Your enemies Your footstool.” ’ Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ.”
Acts 2:34-36
This is yet another prophecy that Peter used in His sermon taken from Psalm 110:1: The LORD said to my Lord, “Sit at My right hand, till I make Your enemies Your footstool.” What is this Scripture saying? Here we have God the Father speaking to His Son. Notice the difference in writing the word Lord. The word LORD, in all capitals, speaks of Jehovah. The word Lord refers to Jesus as our Lord and Savior.
In the Hebrew language, the word Lord is Adonia. In the Greek language, the word Lord is Kurios. It can mean “supremacy” or “authority,” and it is also used as a direct reference to Yahweh or Jehovah. However, it can mean “Sir,” “Master,” or “owner.” It can even be used as a title for a husband, as such was the case with Sarah, who called Abraham, Lord (1 Peter 3:6).
The important point here is to know the key to salvation is to recognize Jesus as Lord. Consider what actions are needed to receive eternal life: ...if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved (Romans 10:8-9). Know this: Those who refuse to bow their knee now will one day have to bow a knee before Christ:
...God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father (Philippians 2:9-11).
Jesus loves you so much that He died for you on the Cross. I hope you bow your knees now, and that Jesus becomes Lord of your life today!
Jesus Christ knows the worst about you. Nonetheless, He is the One who loves you the most.
