Purchased with Christ’s Blood
“Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood.”
Acts 20:28
Paul gave a serious charge to the Ephesian elders––the Holy Spirit had called them to be faithful overseers in the church. They were to watch over and take care of the flock of God.
Notice, Jesus paid for the Church of God with His own blood. When I hear a pastor say, “My church,” I ask them, “How much did it cost you?” It is Christ’s Church––He paid for it with His own blood. There are a lot of pastors who are not feeding the flock of God; instead, they are fleecing the flock of God. What is the duty of the Shepherd? It is to feed the flock of God.
This is why I take teaching the body of Christ so seriously on every Sunday morning and evening, as well as Wednesday nights. God has called me to feed the flock of God. Christ paid for you and me with His own dear blood. The Gospel is free, but Jesus paid for our salvation with his own blood. What else can we learn from the Scriptures concerning the blood of Jesus Christ? We have deliverance, redemption and forgiveness of sins, and the opportunity to serve the living God:
Colossians 1:13-14: He [Christ] has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.
1 John I:7: But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.
Hebrews 9:14: ...how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
Did God reveal something new to you concerning the blood of Christ?
We must know the power of the Blood if we are to know the power of God.
