A Man Attested by God 

“Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a Man attested by God to you by miracles, wonders, and signs which God did through Him in your midst, as you yourselves also know—”
Acts 2:22

In the Old Testament, Jesus would appear as the Angel of the Lord––a theophany––the appearance of God in a visible form revealed to a human being. Jesus was a Messenger of Jehovah. In the New Testament times, Jesus became incarnate––made flesh (John 1:14). 

The Son of God decided to willingly leave heaven and come down to earth to demonstrate to us how much He really loved us (Romans 5:8). In doing so, He never lost His deity. When Jesus became a Man, incarnate in the flesh, He dwelt among mankind for thirty-three years. His disciples had the privilege to eat, sleep and walk with Jesus Christ. 

What did God the Father say as a divine witness of His Son? Jesus came to be baptized by John the Baptist, when suddenly a voice from heaven said: “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased” (Matthew 3:17). God declared to those who heard that Jesus Christ was His Son. 

God worked miracles, wonders and signs through Jesus. The Son of God healed the blind and the lepers. He miraculously healed those who were crippled––they walked! Jesus was attested by God. The word attested means “to point out,” “to exhibit,” “to show,” “accredit,” “prove by demonstration.” It also means “to declare,” or “to prove what kind a person anyone is.” God Himself declared and proved to the world that Jesus Christ was His Son. The miracles, wonders and signs were proof. 

In earth’s history, not one deity died and rose again from the dead! Jesus laid down His life, and He took it up again (John 10:17-18). Jesus rose again! Over 500 people witnessed His Resurrection. We are serving Jesus of Nazareth, the King of kings (Revelation 19:16). He is God! 

Whatever God is, Christ is. The every likeness of God, the very Godhead of Godhead, the very Deity of Deity, is in Christ Jesus.
