Firm to the End
For every house is built by someone, but He who built all things is God. And Moses indeed was faithful in all His house as a servant, for a testimony of those things which would be spoken afterward, but Christ as a Son over His own house, whose house we are if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm to the end.
Hebrews 3:4-6
Creator God made all things (Genesis 1:1). He is the Master Builder of everything. The Lord Jesus is the Builder of the house of Israel. The word house refers to God’s people. Moses made up only a part of this house. He was not the creator of the house, because Jesus was named as being superior to Moses.
These Scriptures reveal to us who Jesus is––God, deity. God the Father is Creator, but Jesus Christ is also Creator of all things. He is equal with God the Father equal with God the Holy Spirit. The Triune God is equal in power:
He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist. And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence (Colossians 1:15-18).
Jesus built the Church, and He is the Head of the Church––Christ as a Son over His own house... (Hebrews 3:6). The Church includes you and me. We belong to God’s house: Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? (1 Corinthians 3:16).
All those who have been born again of the Holy Spirit and have received Jesus Christ as their Lord and their Savior are now a part of His house. Our responsibility is to remain in the faith––holding fast––firm to the end.
Your soul must hold fast to Him, you must follow after Him in your thoughts, you must tread His ways by faith, not in outward show.
