An Unchangeable Priesthood

Also there were many priests, because they were prevented by death from continuing. But He, because He continues forever, has an unchangeable priesthood. Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.
Hebrews 7:23-25

Aaron’s Levitical order of priests was, of course, human and frail. Eventually, every priest would die, and new priests would be appointed to serve in the Temple. But this was not the case with Jesus’ priesthood, which was ordered according to Melchizedek. Jesus Christ has brought about an everlasting priesthood untouchable by death.

Jesus is our High Priest. As deity, being eternal, He has an unchangeable priesthood. Therefore, because of this, He is also able to save to the uttermost, or let me say, to the “gutter-most,” those who need salvation. Do you not find this to be true? He has saved each and every one of us! He rescued us out of the gutter of our sin! Through His mercy and grace, He gave us His salvation––beautiful.

The word for uttermost in Greek means “to the end” and could refer to people of all nations. Salvation is not limited to the nation of Israel. People from any nation can be saved. God opened the door and made it possible for anyone who wanted salvation to be saved through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ.

Jesus always lives and makes intercession for those He knows will receive Him. Before His death on the Cross, Jesus interceded for those who would believe in Him:

“I do not pray for these [Disciples] alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me” (John 17:20-21).

Sinner, just come to Jesus! He came out of eternity to reach down to rescue you from your sin. Nobody is past saving, so respond to His love.

Salvation is always "good news." It is news of God's love and forgiveness, adoption into His family, fellowship with His people, freedom from the penalty of sin, liberation from the power of sin.
