A Christian’s Worthy Conduct

Only let your conduct be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of your affairs, that you stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel, and not in any way terrified by your adversaries, which is to them a proof of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that from God.
Philippians 1:27-28

Paul, whether present or absent, wanted to hear the joyful news that the believers in Philippi were still actively pursuing Christ. Their conduct was to be worthy of their call, and they were to be unified in the work of the Gospel. The whole purpose and mission of the Philippian church was to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

I believe, if I was absent from Calvary Chapel Golden Springs for any reason, I would want to hear a good report that believers were still going to church, reading the Bible, praying, fellowshipping, loving their families, teaching their children, and witnessing to others as they preached the Gospel. Now that would bring joy to my life!

Paul encouraged Christians not to be terrified of their adversaries. The word terrified means “frightened, scared or abandoned.” Understand, the non-believer will fall under God’s judgment––hell. Christians will inherit the Kingdom of God. Our salvation comes from God. The source or origin of our salvation is through Jesus Christ––period. The Scriptures tell us: “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).

I encourage you in your Christian walk––do not follow any person; follow Jesus Christ. If you keep your eyes on Jesus Christ and imitate Him, you will keep yourself from sin.

In our manner of speech, our plans of living, our dealings with others, our conduct and walk in the church and out of it-all should be done as becomes the Gospel.
