White as Snow
And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.
Colossians 2:13-15
Do you see the importance of the Cross in the Gospel message? The redemption of our souls was won by Christ because of His sacrifice: In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace (Ephesians 1:7). This is what Jesus did for you and for me––it is all of grace.
Have you ever seen an enemy disarmed? They are overcome and rendered defenseless by the victor of the battle. They have to lay down their weapons and surrender. This is exactly what Jesus did when He died on the Cross and Resurrected; He became the Victor. Satan and his demons have been overcome and made defenseless against Him. They are no match for His power.
Christ’s triumph on the Cross has secured our salvation; but not only for us, as there will be others––today, tomorrow and in the future. He is waiting for them individually, to bend their knees and pray, asking Him for forgiveness. When they do, Jesus will cleanse and wash them white as snow just as the Scriptures declare: “Come now, and let us reason together,” says the LORD, “though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool” (Isaiah 1:18).
Think about it. We have become whiter than the snow on Mount Baldy. Whiter than the pure, white wool of a lamb. We are no longer stained by crimson sin. Christ has removed the stain by His blood and has made us whiter than snow––clean, clean, clean! Oh, how we are loved by the Lord!
God's holiness demands that sin be punished - but God's love has provided the way of redemption through Christ.
