Confident of Progress
And being confident of this, I know that I shall remain and continue with you all for your progress and joy of faith, that your rejoicing for me may be more abundant in Jesus Christ by my coming to you again.
Philippians 1:25-26
Paul had such a love for the believers in Philippi; they brought him so much joy. He also referred to his own personal presence with them. The main reason he was with the believers in Philippi was to teach them the Word of God.
On Sunday mornings, I always ask the Lord, “Who is going to come to church today? Are there hurting people who you will touch? Who will be saved?” I believe with all my heart, Christians who come to Calvary Chapel Golden Springs should invite others to come to church so they can hear the Gospel. Who knows if God will touch their lives and bring them to the knowledge of Jesus Christ?
In the Jesus People Movement, in the 70’s, Christians would go down to Hollywood and pass out Christian tracts. At Huntington Beach, believers did the same thing. They shared with people how to come to know Jesus as their personal Savior. They led people to Christ! It was very common to see men and women standing or even on their knees praying, asking Jesus to come into their lives. Where do you see that happening today? I believe we are living in an Antichrist society––godless and lawless.
Today people need Jesus Christ more than ever. You are Christ’s disciple, and you have been set apart for the Kingdom of God so that you can share Jesus Christ with others. People need to come to know Christ. What about sharing the Gospel with your relatives and friends? They need Jesus in their lives!
Progression in the Christian life is exactly equal to the growing knowledge we gain of the Triune God in personal experience.
