Complete in Him
Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ. For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.
Colossians 2:8-10
Paul was concerned for the steadfastness of the saints––believers. Some were being influenced by many different mythologies and philosophies. These philosophical thinkers were humanists who did not believe in Jesus Christ. Paul wrote to the Colossians to warn them and correct their empty teachings.
Observing the times in which we live, people are being greatly influenced by psychology. Medical professionals often fail because they do not help people with God’s living Word. They base their entire philosophy on humanistic thinking, not on the wisdom and knowledge of God. Mankind is not seen as he should be––made in God’s image (Genesis 1:27). We are a trichotomy––spirit, soul and body. Christian psychologists offer counsel to people for money, but God’s Word is completely free!
Christians are complete in Jesus Christ. He becomes their Wonderful Counselor. Do not get caught up with the philosophies of men; their words can be empty and deceitful. Jesus has all wisdom, and in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily. Seriously, you do not need anything else––just Jesus Christ, period!
Wisdom for life does not come by reading self-help books. People are into building self-esteem. Esteem Christ! Know who you are in Him, and you will feel loved and accepted in the Beloved––in Christ. You only need one book––the Bible.
What really matters is how God sees me. He isn’t concerned with labels: he is concerned about the state of man’s soul.
