God Owns Earthly Treasures

“ ‘The silver is Mine, and the gold is Mine,’ says the Lord of hosts.  ‘The glory of this latter temple shall be greater than the former,’ says the Lord of hosts. ‘And in this place I will give peace,’  says the Lord of hosts.”
Haggai 2:8-9

God’s people did not have a heart to build the Temple or to see His majesty and glory return there. They were so busy being selfish with their own lives. But if they put away self and rebuilt the Temple, God would be exalted among the nations. Psalm 96:3 tells us to: Declare His glory among the nations, His wonders among all peoples.

Before the Temple was destroyed, it was an incredible sight for everyone to behold. The Temple was a holy place where God’s presence dwelt. When people went into the Temple, they could feel the holy presence of the Lord. Did they not miss His presence? It seemed making money––silver and gold––took precedence. God’s people needed a revival.

Today, we need a revival––to spiritually wake up! Many Christians and nonbelievers alike are so caught up with their own lives––their bank accounts, houses and cars. They are failing to keep the daily priority of seeking the heart and presence of God. In these difficult days, we need the comfort of His presence. Do we not miss the presence and peace that God brings into our lives when we continually seek Him?

When we neglect going to church, we lose the joy of worshiping Him. We cannot hear His voice through the teaching of the Word. God has a plan and purpose for each of our lives. Ask yourself, “What does God want to do in my life?” If you remain in Christ, His plans will unfold. You will be in the center of His perfect will for your life. You will not miss out those plans.

While on earth, enjoy the presence of God, exalt His name among the nations, and pray for a spiritual revival in our land. Never be comfortable with earthly riches, and do not forsake serving the King who owns them.

“Indeed heaven and the highest heavens belong to the Lord your God, also the earth with all that is in it.”
~Deuteronomy 10:14~
