Confident of Completion
...for your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ....
Philippians 1:5-6
Paul not only had close communion with God, but he had close fellowship with the believers in Philippi––koinonia. It is incredible that Paul, from the first day he met the believers in Philippi, until the present time of writing his letter, felt thankful for them and so joyful for their genuine fellowship in the gospel. Paul was thanking God for their commitment.
The Philippians had participated in Paul’s ministry for ten years. He never asked for anything, but they willingly supported him. I thank God for those who support us in ministry. As I have taught the Word of God, people have been obedient to God in their giving. Without them we could not do it. We have not lacked faith in trusting God over the years.
Do you enjoy fellowship with God and His people? When we have communion once a month, we gather together to have a time of teaching, worship, and then to partake in communion––taking the bread and cup together. When we leave, we have enjoyed a time of fellowship in the gospel. There is nothing like enjoying fellowship with brothers and sisters in Christ together.
Circle Philippians1:6 in your Bible. Paul had great confidence in God. He knew that as God started a work in the life of a believer, He was sure to complete it. Your assurance is in Jesus Christ––not in what you do for Him, but in what He has done for you. Who is going to finish the work? God! The word perform means “God will complete the work of salvation.”
How many times do you feel like you will not finish the race? God will complete it even until the Day of Jesus Christ. Do you know what that means? This is a promise of your final salvation, reward, and glorification. As you continue in your walk with Christ, God will continue to work in your life, even until Jesus Christ comes again for you and me!
God works in us and with us, not against us or without us.
