Poured Out Blessings

“Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and try Me now in this,” says the Lord of hosts, “if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it.”
Malachi 3:10

God is not poor. He owns all the cattle on a thousand hills (Psalm 50:10). We are the ones who are poor, both spiritually and for the daily necessities of life. We need God's help; He does not need our help. Malachi 3:10 is an Old Testament Scripture challenging God’s people to give their tithes in obedience to Him, with the promise of reaping the benefits of God’s blessings. These benefits were not necessarily financial blessings, but spiritual blessings.

Consider the spiritual blessing we received when God sent His Only Begotten Son Jesus Christ to die for our sins:

Ephesians 2:4-7: But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus....

Colossians 1:13-14: He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.

When it comes to the test of giving, in the New Testament, Jesus taught that with the same measure we give, it would be measured back with blessings that will run over into our lives. He encouraged us to give:

“Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you” (Luke 6:38).

I thank God for all those who obediently give their tithes and help the needy. May God pour out blessings upon their lives.

...the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
