Mother’s Day

...a woman who fears the LORD, she shall be praised.
Proverbs 31:30

In these last days, a godly mother’s role in the home has become even more vital. Her children may become subject to erroneous teachings in school classrooms at such a tender age. A twisted minority has pushed their beliefs of sexuality on children as young as Kindergarten. It is unthinkable that this could happen in the United States!

Mothers need to guard the innocence of their children. We cannot allow the world to corrupt their hearts and minds. A mother who fears the Lord will need to instill in her children the Word of God. It is the truth of God’s Word that will guard them from the mis-truths taught to them in secular schools, colleges and universities. Mothers of young children must be diligent to teach them God’s Word, even from infancy.

It has been well-noted in history that Hebrew mothers would whisper in the ears of their newborns, “Yahweh is LORD.” Consider the importance of the words spoken by the prophet Isaiah:

Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts (Isaiah 28:9 KJV).

Godly mothers can greatly influence their children by teaching them the Word of God. Consider the mothers who influenced great men of God––Jochebed influenced Moses, Bathsheba instructed Solomon, and Eunice passed on her genuine faith to Timothy (2 Timothy 1:5-7). Mothers have the incredible responsibility of training their children as Christ’s little disciples.

If you have grown up in a home where you have been greatly influenced by a godly mother, then you have so much to be thankful for. She has taught you to know God and the way to salvation. May you show her your deep gratitude and tell her how much she is appreciated today.

I cannot tell you how much I owe to the solemn word of my good mother.
~C. H Spurgeon~
