Immortality Has Come to Light
...who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began, but has now been revealed by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who has abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel...
2 Timothy 1:9-10
Who has saved us and called us with a holy calling? God. Salvation is not attained by our good works; we are saved by faith and grace that were attained for us through Jesus Christ. Since before time, God has been in complete control of a plan for our salvation. Read and think about the magnitude of what is being said in Ephesians 1:3-6:
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.
It is truly astounding when we think about the incredible love of God in rescuing us from the power of sin and death through His Son, Jesus Christ. Your life, my life would have been so different if we had not found Christ. Now we have a bright future and an eternal hope in the heavens. Never take that lightly! It cost Jesus His life. It was a high price to pay for our salvation.
Jesus abolished and conquered death when He died and rose again. Christians have an assurance, that when we die, we shall go to heaven. Do you have this assurance? We all plan for so many things in this life, but what about planning for the next life? Where are you going to spend eternity? Immortality has come to light through the revelation of Jesus Christ. Why not accept Him as your Savior? You have everything to gain.
Time is short. Eternity is long. It is only reasonable that this short life be lived in the light of eternity.
