A Great Shaking Is Coming!
“Yet once more I shake not only the earth, but also heaven.”
Now this, “Yet once more,” indicates the removal of those things that are being shaken, as of things that are made, that the things which cannot be shaken may remain.
Hebrews 12:26-27
Here Paul was quoting from Haggai 2:6: “ ‘...once more (it is a little while) I will shake heaven and earth, the sea and dry land....’ ” This is talking about what will happen at the end of human history and the great and terrible Day of the Lord. The Day of the Lord is not a single day, but a complex of end-times events. Joel 2:1-2 says:
Blow the trumpet in Zion, sound an alarm in My holy mountain! Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble; for the day of the Lord is coming, for it is at hand: a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness...
When will this judgment of God happen? In the last seven years of human history––the Tribulation. In Revelation 6:17, those who are experiencing the Tribulation say: “For the great day of His [God’s] wrath has come, and who is able to stand?” The Bible tells us that the seven-year Tribulation will have two parts. For the first 3.5 years, there will be “tribulation,” but then for the last 3.5 years, there will be “great tribulation.”
God is going to pour out His wrath on the earth––on those who reject Jesus Christ. Revelation 6-18 tells us in detail what will happen, and you do not want to be here. But right now, Jesus is shaking up His Church to show who the real believers are. Are you a true believer? If not, come to Christ today. You do not want to be “left behind” when Jesus raptures His Church.
The purpose of the rapture is to allow the saints to meet Jesus in the air as He returns and be included in His entourage during His triumphal descent from Heaven. His coming in this manner will be attended by the general resurrection, the final judgment, and the end of the world.
