To Know the Love of Christ

...that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height–– to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
Ephesians 3:17-19

Within Paul’s prayer, he placed great emphasis on God’s love dwelling in a believer’s heart. Christians cannot do anything for Christ or anything toward people without His love. Our work for Christ will be in vain; it will have no value. Everything we do needs to be done through God’s agape, unconditional love. We could have the gifts of knowledge, prophecy and faith, but if these things are not exercised through love, they are nothing!

Every day we should reflect on Christ’s love. Think on 1 Corinthians 13:4-8, to help you understand the perfection of love:

Love [Christ] suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails.

Honestly, only Christ’s name can be placed in these verses. If we place our names, we fail miserably. I will not fully understand the depth and height of God’s love until I get to heaven. All I know is how incredible it is when the love of God enters into your life. It transforms your life!

Every day we should pray and ask God to fill us with His love so that we can operate under its influence. The evidence of being filled with the Holy Spirit is love. With God’s unconditional love, we can treat people lovingly, gently, kindly and courteously.

God is sending forth His message of love, but you must tune in. You must be willing to listen and to receive His message and then to obey it.
