Preaching to People

“And He [Jesus] commanded us to preach to the people, and to testify that it is He who was ordained by God to be Judge of the living and the dead. To Him all the prophets witness that, through His name, whoever believes in Him will receive remission of sins.”
Acts 10:42-43

The Apostle Peter completely understood what God was asking him to do. He had called him to go and preach the Gospel to Cornelius and his gathered company. Peter simply shared with them the life, death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ had commanded His disciples to preach the Gospel and to let people know that God had ordained Him to be Judge of the living and the dead––both the wicked and the righteous.

In his sermon, Peter had come to the point where those listening would have an opportunity to repent and, by faith, accept and trust in Jesus for salvation. The Apostle let them know plainly that the blood of Jesus was the only way to have their sins cleansed away.

For believers in Christ, knowing the Gospel by heart is important. When an opportunity arises, you can simply explain scripturally to someone about the life, death and Resurrection of Jesus. There was a time when Christians learned to share the Gospel by using the “Roman Road.” They memorized key Scriptures from the book of Romans to show the way to salvation.

Romans 3:23 presents our lost and sinful state: ...for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.... Romans 5:8 reveals the immeasurable love of God toward sinners: But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 10:9 leads people to a point of decision: ...if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

Is this the first time you have heard the Gospel message? Then you have a decision to make. Receive Jesus and be cleansed of your sin, or if you choose to reject Him, know your sin remains.

For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
