Walk in the Light of Eternity

He who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see, to whom be honor and everlasting power. Amen.
1 Timothy 6:15-16

Paul described the incredible majesty of God. Imagine, one day all those who belong to Christ will go to a holy place––heaven. Jesus is our Immortal King! He is Light, and in Him dwells no darkness at all (1 John 1:5). Heaven is full of His glory.

In the heavenly city, the New Jerusalem, there will be no night. There will be no need either for the sun or the moon: The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light. And the nations of those who are saved shall walk in its light... (Revelation 21:23-24).

John the Baptist referred to Jesus as, The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! (John 1:29). In the book of Revelation, because of His sacrifice on the Cross and in victory over death and sin, Jesus, our Conquering King, is still referred to as the Lamb––amazing!

In His earthly ministry, Jesus spoke of heaven. He told His disciples that He was preparing a place for them:

“In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also” (John 14:2-3).

This incredible promise is also given to you! Think about your life. Are you clinging to the things of this world, or are you preparing for eternity? Understand, this world holds nothing for you. Make sure you have your priorities in order and that you walk in the light of eternity. Life is brief; it will not be long before the Lord takes you home to your permanent address.

In the light of eternity we shall see that what we desired would have been fatal to us, and that what we would have avoided was essential to our well-being.
