Mother’s Day
...forsake not your mother's teaching...
Proverbs 1:8 ESV
In these last days, a godly mother’s instruction to her children is indispensable. False ideologies taught by the godless are trying to influence children from a very young age. These teachings are just plain evil! There is a blatant attempt to destroy the hearts and minds of children in our public schools, secular colleges, and our liberal society.
A God-fearing mother must instill the Word of God in her child’s heart and mind to help them stand against this tide of liberal thinking that is sweeping the nation. Scholars have said that in the time of Moses, among the Hebrew women giving birth, the midwives would give the baby to the mother, and immediately, she would whisper in the right ear of their newborn, “Yahweh is God.” I love this––I think that is beautiful.
The Word of God clearly give parents wisdom on how to train and teach young children the knowledge of the Scriptures:
“Whom will he teach knowledge? And whom will he make to understand the message? Those just weaned from milk? Those just drawn from the breasts? For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept, line upon line, line upon line, here a little, there a little” (Isaiah 28:9-10).
Mothers, start training your children while they are young. They are never too little to learn the Scriptures. Consider these God-fearing mothers who taught their children, and, as a result, they became great men of God––Jochebed instructed Moses, Bathsheba tutored Solomon, and Eunice taught Timothy and passed on her genuine faith to him (2 Timothy 1:5-7).
If you have grown up in a home where you have been taught the Scriptures by a God-fearing mother, then you have so much to be thankful for. Your mother has taught you, not only to know God, but she has instructed you in the way to salvation. On this Mother’s Day, take time to show her how much she is loved and appreciated.
There is more power in a mother’s hand than a king’s scepter.
