Is Your Faith Evident?
Some men’s sins are clearly evident, preceding them to judgment, but those of some men follow later. Likewise, the good works of some are clearly evident, and those that are otherwise cannot be hidden.
1 Timothy 5:24-25
Paul continued his letter to reveal how some men's sins are clearly evident, and God’s judgment befalls them swiftly; whereas other men’s sins may remain hidden, a time of judgment, although delayed, was sure to come.
Jonathan Edwards gave an incredible sermon called Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God. He warned his listeners: “There is nothing that keeps wicked men at any one moment out of hell, but the mere pleasure of God.” Are you aware of your precarious position because you are willfully sinning? Even if you try to hide your sin, God will always see your sin, and He is the One who is going to judge you accordingly.
Why not repent of your sins and ask for God’s forgiveness? He is a merciful God who is willing to extend His grace and salvation to you:
Isaiah 55:7: Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the LORD, and He will have mercy on him; and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon.
Ephesians 2:4-5: But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved)....
Likewise, the good works of men are clearly evident, and even though some good deeds are done in secret, God sees them, and He rewards a person as a result. This does not mean men have earned their way into heaven by doing good works. It simply means they are serving the Lord out of their love for Him and because of all that He has done for them.
Is your faith evident to others in your words and actions? What are they seeing in your life?
Faith is the divine evidence whereby the spiritual man discerneth God, and the things of God.
