Jesus the Christ Heals You
Now it came to pass, as Peter went through all parts of the country, that he also came down to the saints who dwelt in Lydda. There he found a certain man named Aeneas, who had been bedridden eight years and was paralyzed. And Peter said to him, “Aeneas, Jesus the Christ heals you. Arise and make your bed.” Then he arose immediately. So all who dwelt at Lydda and Sharon saw him and turned to the Lord.
Acts 9:32-35
Now we turn back to the life of the Apostle Peter. At this time, he was travelling through Lydda and the Sharon Valley. God was using Peter’s life tremendously. As he prayed, miracles were happening. These things happened very naturally. Peter took a step of faith, prayed in the name of Jesus for Aeneas who had been sick for eight years, and he was healed!
The name of Jesus is powerful. Learn what can happen through Jesus’ mighty name as recorded in Acts 4:10-14:
“...let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by Him this man stands [the lame man] here before you whole. This is the ‘stone which was rejected by you builders, which has become the chief cornerstone.’ Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
The Jews rejected their Messiah, the One who heals us of our diseases and the only One who can give us salvation. Jesus still heals people today, but according to His will. The Scriptures teach that if anyone is sick, let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven (James 5:14-15). Notice, Jesus heals a person physically and spiritually.
Why then would anyone choose to reject Jesus as Savior?
Since no man is excluded from calling upon God the gate of salvation is open to all. There is nothing else to hinder us from entering, but our own unbelief.
