One Mediator

For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus....
1 Timothy 2:5

Yesterday, Paul focused on the necessity of prayer. Today, we will discuss the necessity of salvation through one Mediator––Christ. What is salvation? When we hear somebody teach or preach on salvation, we need to examine what was spoken under the light of the Scriptures. We cannot just take anything as gospel truth. We need to become thinkers, because there are so many deceptive, false religions.

Paul’s talking point to Timothy will challenge us on the necessity to really know what salvation is all about. I would like to say to you that salvation is individual––it is personal. You cannot inherit salvation because of your parents––just because they are Christians. You have to find salvation for yourself.

I can tell you that there is no other way for you to receive salvation apart from Christ. You cannot get to God through Mary, a priest, or a spiritualist. There are religions who will require you to ride a bicycle, knock on doors, and ask you to share their gospel to be saved. Other religions insist that you have to read their magazines, and hopefully, by your good works, you will be included among those who are going to be saved! This is false teaching! Know this: Religion is man’s way of trying to reach God, when He reached us by sending His only Begotten Son to die for our sins. He initiated salvation and the way to have a relationship with Him.

Christ is the only Mediator between God and man. You do not need any other mediator. A mediator is one who stands between two enemy parties to reconcile them. They are the go-between, and that is exactly what Jesus Christ did for us. He gave us access to the Father. When Jesus departed from this world, He sat down at the right hand of God, and He is constantly making intercessions for you and for me.

The eternal benefits of salvation are offered to those who are lost. Who are the lost? Those without Christ who are dead in their sins. The saved have repented of their sins and received Jesus Christ as Savior by faith. In which category do you find yourself today?

For “whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.”
