Peace Through the Cross

For it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell, and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross.
Colossians 1:19-20

God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit are One––the Trinity. They have the same attributes and characteristics. The Father was pleased that Jesus Christ volunteered to come to earth to die for our sins. When we repent of our sins and accept Jesus Christ by faith, we are reconciled to God through Christ’s sacrifice on the Cross. We can have peace with God.

As sinners, we could never deliver ourselves from the guilt and penalty of sin, but Jesus did that for us. As enemies of God, we were in danger of spending eternity apart from Him forever. God’s judgment was hanging over our heads when Jesus Christ, out of eternity, stepped in to rescue us.

Jesus was born of a virgin, Mary, and laid in a manger (Luke 2:6-7). He grew into manhood, and at the age of 30 He began His earthly ministry. He preached repentance the Gospel, and He healed people. Later, Jesus was arrested and crucified. He resurrected from the dead on the third day proving He was the Redeemer of the world. He came to deliver us from the authority of Satan, the darkness, and the fear of death.

Many people are trying to save themselves through their own good works or by worshiping idols. It hurts me to see these young, sincere men on their bikes trying to witness to others about their Mormon faith. The Jehovah’s Witnesses walk the streets, going door to door with their magazines trying to convince people of their doctrine. It is all of works and not by faith in Jesus Christ. When you talk to these people, you find that they are not talking about the same Jesus in the Bible who we know.

Sin is serious––so serious it sent Jesus Christ to the cross. Flee from [sin] and stay close to Christ.
