Prayer for our Leaders

Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.
1 Timothy 2:1-2

Paul was a man of prayer; he engaged in spiritual warfare. Timothy needed to wage a good warfare, and one of the ways to do this was through prayer. In Ephesians 6:18, Paul tells us that prayer is a part of our spiritual weaponry: praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints....

You see, as Christians, we have a great responsibility to pray for kings, leaders, governments, and all men. It does not matter whether you are a Democrat, Independent or a Republican, pray for President Trump and his cabinet, for senators, and for judges––all leaders on both sides of the aisle.

According to 2 Chronicles 7:14, if Christians commit themselves to pray, they can change the destiny of our country:

“...if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”

We have a duty to pray for our police departments. God has given them to us to watch over and protect us from evil men committing crimes in our communities. They help keep us safe! There is also a big need to pray for the entire US Military––Army, Navy, Air Force, and the Marines. They keep our country safe from our enemies.

If believers are faithful to pray, the benefits are incredible because with the right godly leadership in power, it makes it possible for any society to live quiet and peaceful lives.

When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice....
