What Is the Fruit of Your Christianity?

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.
Galatians 5:22-23

Do you have evidence of the fruit of the Spirit in your life? Jesus taught that in order for people to see the evidence of our Christianity, we must have the fruit of love: “By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another” (John 13:35). Most situations among believers can be solved with Christlike love and forgiveness:

Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you (Ephesians 4:31-32).

When people see dissension and jealousy among believers, it leaves a bad witness for non-believers who are watching our lives. People are always watching––your parents, loved ones, neighbors, your employer or employees. They will ask, “So is that the way a Christian behaves?” If we leave a sour taste in people's mouths, they will say, “If that is a Christian, then I want no part of Jesus Christ.”

Think of the number of people who have confessed to their friends that they are Christians, but they still go to raves, nightclubs, and bars. They still drink, take drugs and engage in premarital sex. Their nonbelieving friends see no difference in their lives. If this describes you, listen: You are losing the opportunity to become a light to your friends. They will remain in the darkness. Do you not want to see them get saved? Then change; go against what the devil wants you to do! Do what is right!

The best way is to crucify your flesh––put it to death: And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires (Galatians 5:24). Ask God to fill you with His Spirit so people can see the evidence of your Christian faith in all that you say and do.

Every time we say we believe in the Holy Spirit, we mean we believe that there is a living God able and willing to enter human personality and change it.
