Worshipping God
...or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths, which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ. Let no one cheat you of your reward, taking delight in false humility and worship of angels, intruding into those things which he has not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind, and not holding fast to the Head, from whom all the body, nourished and knit together by joints and ligaments, grows with the increase that is from God.
Colossians 2:16-19
There are people who will argue about which day to worship God. Should it be on Sunday or Saturday? What does it matter if it is Saturday or Sunday? Our relationship with God is not based on rules and regulations. In reality, we should worship God every day! Each new day we can worship God in Spirit and in truth (John 4:24).
If you look back and study church history, the early church met on the first day of the week–-Sunday. In keeping with the Jewish Law, the Sabbath was practiced on Saturday. Jews worshiped God during the Shabbat, which usually began Friday night at 6:00p.m. sundown, until Saturday 6:00p.m., when three or more stars appeared in the night sky.
Jesus fulfilled the Law, so Christians do not need to be condemned about what day to go to church. We should not be concerned with do’s and don’ts. Some people have to work on Sunday. It is nice to be able to go to church on a Sunday, but if a person cannot attend service that day, then they can go at another time, perhaps, Wednesday or Thursday. It all depends on their work schedule.
Christians live by faith and have a love relationship with Jesus Christ. They worship Him and seek to please Him. They do not worship angels, Catholic saints, Mary, or anybody else; we worship our Lord Jesus Christ, the Head of the Church––the Head of the body of Christ. Come out of the shadows of ritualism and come to the Light––Jesus.
Worship is the activity of the new life of a believer in which, recognizing the fullness of the Godhead as it is revealed in the person of Jesus Christ and his mighty redemptive acts, he seeks by the power of the Holy Spirit to render to the living God the glory, honour and submission which are his due.
