Through Love Serve One Another

For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” But if you bite and devour one another, beware lest you be consumed by one another!
Galatians 5:13-15

The Galatians were exhorted by Paul to use their Christian liberty to serve one another in love, not for their fleshly desires. He told believers to stay away from the bondage of sin, and to remain in the love of God. What else did Paul say? The Law is fulfilled by love: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Instead of strife and division which caused Christians to come against each other, Paul wanted them to have unity––to be at peace with one another.

Christian liberty is not to be used to do works of the flesh––period. Do not give your flesh the opportunity to sin. Be careful how you live your life! As we walk in the Spirit, in the love of God, we can serve one another. How much plainer can we have it?

What are the works of the flesh? When you see strife and anger in the body of Christ, the flesh is at work. These types of characteristics …hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies… (Galatians 5:20), always represent the flesh and not the things of the Spirit.

Seriously, if people see Christians being rude, fighting and disagreeing with each other, then we are misrepresenting Christ to them. They should see us loving and serving one another, otherwise people will be pushed away from Christ, instead of being drawn towards Him.

For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.
~James 3:16~
