Numerology

Then the Lord said to Noah, “Come into the ark, you and all your household, because I have seen that you are righteous before Me in this generation.”
Genesis 7:1

Remember, in the days of Noah, only 8 people went into the ark. Everyone else perished. Did you know that number 8 is the number for new beginnings? In biblical numerology, numbers have great meaning. Numerology can help us understand what numbers symbolize in the Bible. Number 1 in the Bible stands for unity. Number 2 relates to the 2 witnesses in Revelation 11:3. Number 3 is for the Trinity of God. Number 4 speaks of the 4 corners of the earth––north, south, east, and west. Number 5 symbolizes God’s amazing grace.

Number 6 is the number of imperfection and it identifies with man, whereas number 7 is the number of perfection. In 6 days God created the heavens and the earth, and on the 7th day He rested (Genesis 1:31; 2:1-3), There are 7 days in the week, but on the 8th day we start a new week. Eight is the number of new beginnings.

Then we move on to number 12, which is a reference to rulership––governments. Think about it. There are 12 tribes of Israel, 12 gates surrounding the city of Jerusalem, and 12 Disciples who will sit on the 12 thrones in heaven, judging the 12 tribes of Israel (Matthew 19:28). Then we come to the number 13, which is the number of Satan.

As we climb higher, number 39 represents mercy, whereas number 40 becomes the number of judgment. The Apostle Paul received 39 stripes (1 Corinthians 11:24), giving him mercy, and not 40 for judgment. When Noah went into the ark with his family, it rained 40 days and 40 nights, again representing God’s judgment. The children of Israel wandered for 40 years in the wilderness because of their unbelief.

According to church history, churches who preach the Gospel message act like a modern-day ark. The door is wide open to save the lost. Only God knows the number of days left for people to accept His salvation.

Listen to the ticking of the clock! As a pendulum swings back and forth, it says to some of you, “Now or never! Now or never!” Will you trust your soul with Jesus?
