Demonic Deception
And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived, fell into transgression. Nevertheless she will be saved in childbearing if they continue in faith, love, and holiness, with self-control.
1 Timothy 2:14-15
In the Garden of Eden, the woman, not the man, was deceived by Satan. God told her the consequences of her disobedience:
To the woman He said: “I will greatly multiply your sorrow and your conception; in pain you shall bring forth children; your desire shall be for your husband, and he shall rule over you” (Genesis 3:16).
This is why Scripture established that the man is to be the head of his home, and why a man is to take the lead role as a pastor in the church:
Let a woman learn in silence with all submission. And I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man, but to be in silence. For Adam was formed first, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived, fell into transgression (1 Timothy 2:11-14).
There are women who have caused great deceptions by spreading false doctrines. Mary Baker Eddy was known for starting the false doctrine of Christian Science. Helena Blavatsky has been credited by some as the originator of the New Age movement. Once again, this can stem from a woman not taking the God-ordained position of submission under the man. The woman was deceived, so the warning is clear here in Scripture; they have a greater susceptibility to deception. God has declared it, and we must take heed to what is written in context in the Scriptures.
I pray that women would understand Paul's position and appreciate that he was not in any way putting them down. There are many women serving here at Calvary Chapel who are valuable and a great help to the ministry, as they serve the Lord Jesus Christ. They diligently work alongside the men in unity, especially on the mission field. Think about it. Jesus was in submission to His Father and He is our example. Men and women are both to be in total submission to the Lordship of Christ.
The will of God for your life is simply that you submit yourself to Him each day and say, "Father, Your will for today is mine.”
