God’s Order in the Home

For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body. Therefore, just as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything.
Ephesians 5:23-24

The Scriptures are clear. The man is to be the head––the spiritual leader in the home––not the woman. Unfortunately, this can be a problem in many marriages. The man cannot be the head of his home if his wife is trying to rule the home.

Although at times, women have had to make vital decisions in the home because the husband is not taking his role seriously. If he is neglecting his role in the home, then the wife has to lead. This is not biblical and certainly not what God intended from the beginning when marriage was ordained.

God has always intended for the husband to be the head of his home. He is to lead his home, faithfully and spiritually by being in the Word of God and in prayer. He is to care for his wife and his children, providing for their physical and emotional needs. Above all, he is called to love his wife.

Biblically, the position and the duty of a woman is to be a helper to her husband. She is to take care of her home and her children. I realize it is difficult living in this society with soaring inflation. Families are hardly making it, which is why many mothers are having their babies and going back to work. A single income these days will not pay the mortgage, the car payment, food and other necessities because things being so expensive. Both parents need to take care of the home and make sure their children do not become neglected.

Many children sit idly in front of the television or just play video games. They need to become thinkers. When is the last time your children read a book? When was the last time you sat down and read a book with them? They need to learn to read and study. Our children live in a society that is being shaped by the world, and it is making them apathetic and lazy.

Husbands and wives, you have very important positions in your marriage.

The Bible stresses that a marriage ideally should be a picture or a reflection of Christ’s love for His people.
