God’s Servants Honored
So when this was done, the rest of those on the island who had diseases also came and were healed. They also honored us in many ways; and when we departed, they provided such things as were necessary.
Acts 28:9-10
God began to work mightily among the islanders. They began to come to Paul by the droves. The Lord opened the door to minister to so many sick people on the island. I am sure many of them were coming to know Jesus as their Lord and their Savior. Although they sought Paul for physical healing, it was more important that they received spiritual healing.
In the book of Titus, Paul explained the miracle of regeneration––the re-birth all believers experience at conversion:
But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life (Titus 3:4-7).
In three months, Paul established a church on Malta. Full of joy and appreciation, the natives honored him and his friends in many ways. Through their generosity, God had provided everything necessary for them.
What does the Word of God have to say about honoring men of God?
I Thessalonians 5:12-13 ESV: We ask you, brothers, to respect those who labor among you and are over you in the Lord and admonish you, and to esteem them very highly in love because of their work....
1 Timothy 5:17-19 ESV: Let the elders who rule well be considered worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in preaching and teaching.
How have you shown honor to the godly men who have given their lives to serve God and His people?
If you be faithful, you will have that honor that comes from God: his Spirit will say in your hearts, Well done, good and faithful servants.
