A Christian’s Worthy Walk
...that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God....
Colossians 1:10
Notice, we have a high standard––that you may walk worthy of the Lord. The word worthy in the Greek language means “of equal weight.” Literally, your Christian walk is to imitate the walk of Jesus Christ. It is important to understanding that our Christian walk also speaks of our intimate fellowship with God.
Enoch was a person who walked in close fellowship with God. He had this testimony––he pleased God. What happened as a result? The Lord took him into His presence: And Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him (Genesis 5:24). Is your life pleasing to God in everything you do? Then one day, in the future, you, too, shall be in His presence!
However, there are some people who mistakenly think that once they have accepted Christ and have eternal life, that is it. Yet believers need to grow and mature in their walk with God. They must study God’s Word to gain knowledge and wisdom. They will also become fruitful in every good work.
God desires that all believers in Christ become victorious in their Christian walk––life. He does not want them to always suffer defeat. They should not have a rollercoaster experience––always going up and down––from victory to defeat. You can tell the kind of walk a person has with the Lord by the evident fruit of their lives (Galatians 5:19-23).
When believers walk in obedient submission to the Lord, they are enabled to remain steady and on course in their walk with Him. They will continually rejoice in God’s love, grace and mercy.
If I walk with the world, I can’t walk with God.
