The Gospel Is Not Chained

Remember that Jesus Christ, of the seed of David, was raised from the dead according to my gospel, for which I suffer trouble as an evildoer, even to the point of chains; but the word of God is not chained.
2 Timothy 2:8-9

Paul gave an appeal to Timothy. He was to know the Gospel truth that Jesus had resurrected. King David wrote a prophetical word about Jesus’ Resurrection. We also see his hope for eternal life: For You will not leave my soul in Sheol, nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption (Psalm 16:10). Holy One is in reference to the deity of Jesus Christ. In John 10:17-18, we see that Jesus had power over death:

“Therefore My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again. No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father.”

Interestingly, Paul also established that Christ’s lineage can be traced back to King David. A promise was given to the king of an enduring throne. Christ, through the lineage of David, would establish His everlasting throne:

“I have made a covenant with My chosen, I have sworn to My servant David: ‘Your seed I will establish forever, and build up your throne to all generations ” Selah (Psalm 89:3-4).

Paul was in chains because he preached this Gospel message, but God’s Word is not chained! I love that. The message of the Gospel was spreading rapidly (2 Thessalonians 3:1). It cannot be stopped.

This was Paul’s Gospel message; this is our message to be given to our friends and family. It is Good News! As Jesus conquered physical death and rescued us from spiritual death through His death on the Cross, we have a hope of eternal life which God, who cannot lie, promised before time began... (Titus 1:2). Spread the message of the Gospel! Go tell someone!

I have one Message that Jesus Christ came, he died on a Cross, he rose again, and he asked us to repent of our sins and receive him by faith as Lord and Savior, and, if we do, we have forgiveness of all our sins.
