The Consequences of Sexual Sin
Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge.
Hebrews 13:4
God will judge fornicators and adulterers. These two sins are mentioned first in the list of the works of the flesh in Galatians 5:19-21:
...adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
Paul was speaking to whom? Christians. What will they not inherit if they continue to practice sin? They will not inherit the Kingdom of God. You cannot expect to live a life of sin and inherit eternal life. It does not work that way. Please take heed to Paul’s warning.
Another warning is found in Ephesians 5:5: For this you know, that no fornicator, unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. I think we need to pay attention to these important Scriptures. God requires holiness in all our conduct.
If you are married, be careful about making friends with people of the opposite sex while working in the office or going to the gym. If you are not getting along with your spouse, there will be a temptation to start sharing your personal problems with them. They will respond by becoming very compassionate toward you. Again, you are heading for trouble, and it is just a matter of time before you end up getting involved in an adulterous relationship––it happens all the time.
Pretty soon, the person ends up leaving their spouse, and they lose everything––spouse, kids, and their home. You sold out your family for what? Pleasure? Why not humble yourself before the Lord, repent, and make things right? Remember this: It takes two people to humble themselves to make a marriage work.
A happy marriage is the union of two forgivers.
