Do You Desire a Brand New Life?
...be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.
Ephesians 4:23-24
I have been so blessed by the book of Ephesians. Paul the Apostle has taught us what the new man should act like after regeneration. The Holy Spirit’s power is actively working in a believer’s life. When a person asks Christ into their heart, the Holy Spirit begins to do His work. He gives them a new life, and Christ blesses them with spiritual gifts. He begins to mold, shape and build Christian character. Dr. Billy Graham elaborates:
There is only one way to make humans love instead of hate and that is through the regeneration that comes as the Spirit of God transforms the heart that comes to the Cross asking for forgiveness and cleansing.
The Bible is very clear about our new life in Christ. We have a new heart and are filled with the Holy Spirit. We are a brand new person with a changed life. Something has happened supernaturally. The weight of sin is lifted, and we gain a peace that passes understanding (Acts 3:19). God places a melody in our hearts because of all that He has done for us: He has put a new song in my mouth— Praise to our God; many will see it and fear, and will trust in the LORD (Psalm 40:3).
Christians enjoy a life of doing what is right. They should live righteously. It is all about His righteousness working in and through them: If you know that He is righteous, you know that everyone who practices righteousness is born of Him (1 John 2:29). I like that!
There are so many people in this corrupt world who have not experienced regeneration. Some willfully suppress the truth of God and are filled with unrighteousness. Sinners enjoy a life of sin for a season, but one day they will die and spend eternity separated from God. May we help them to know the truth about God’s amazing love!
Being a Christian is more than just an instantaneous conversion – it is a daily process whereby you grow to be more like Christ.
